Carpet removal cost in Sydney comes down mostly to how the carpet was put down in the first place. Smooth edge carpet lifts out in one piece and is the cheapest to remove. Glued carpet has to be scraped or ground off the concrete, which takes longer and costs more. The table below gives you a realistic starting point:

Smooth Edge / Carpet Gripper

The standard in most Sydney homes, held by spiked strips around the edge of the room. Comes up cleanest and fastest.

Carpet Tiles

Common in offices, often stuck directly to the slab. Usually needs a scraper or grinder to fully clear.

Glued-Down Carpet

Bonded straight to the subfloor, no shortcuts here. Almost always means concrete grinding afterward.

Stapled or Nailed Carpet

Older installation method, still turns up in older houses and units. Slower to remove without gouging the floor underneath.

Carpet Over Underlay

Foam, rubber or felt underlay comes out with the carpet in the same job.

What's the carpet removal cost in Sydney for an average room?

Depends entirely on how it’s fixed down. A smooth-edge bedroom is cheap and quick. A glued commercial space costs a lot more because of the grinding involved. We’ll give you an exact number, not a vague range, once we know the job.

Do you take the underlay too, or just the carpet?

Carpet and underlay removal is one job with us — we don’t leave the underlay behind expecting you to sort it separately.

Will I need concrete grinding after you remove the carpet?

Only if it was glued straight to concrete. We check for residue during the job and tell you honestly whether grinding’s needed — we’re not going to invent extra work.

How long does a job actually take?

A standard room or two is usually done the same day. Bigger commercial spaces or heavily glued carpet take longer — we’ll give you a timeframe upfront.

What happens to the old carpet once it's out?

It doesn’t just go straight to a skip. We take it off-site and recycle what can be recycled as part of the old carpet disposal process.

Can you do stairs and wardrobes as well?

Yes — stairs, landings, built-in robes, all part of a standard property job.

Do I need to clear the room myself first?

Light furniture, we’ll move it. Just tell us what’s in there when you book so we’re not turning up with the wrong plan.
